Everything you need to know before embarking on our unique wilderness routes to Machu Picchu.
Unlike the classic Inca Trail, alternative treks like Salkantay or Lares offer more flexible availability, fewer crowds, and a more raw connection with nature and local Andean communities.
While they don't sell out as fast as the classic trail, we recommend booking at least 1 month in advance to secure the best equipment and permits for Machu Picchu.
These treks are considered moderate to challenging. We recommend regular cardio exercise a few weeks before your trip and at least 2 days of acclimatization in Cusco.
Depending on the trek, you may reach passes up to 4,600 meters (15,091 ft), such as the Salkantay Pass.
We provide professional camping gear (tents and mats). Sleeping bags and trekking poles can be rented from us for a small additional fee.
Yes, we provide boiled and filtered water every morning and at meal times. You just need to bring a reusable water bottle or a hydration bladder.
